HOT OF THE PRESS: Changes to SSP

Following the latest Budget, the government has announced that new SSP Regulations come into force today. These Regulations state that employees who are self-isolating to prevent infection or contamination, should be paid SSP.

Boris Johnson stated that anyone showing even mild symptoms of the coronavirus needs to self-isolate for 7 days.

We are still awaiting the regulations regarding:

  1. the ability for small employers (less then 250 employees) to claim back SSP and
  2. SSP being payable from day 1 (and not day 4 as it is currently) and we’ll update you once they are announced.
