CRJS November Update

Further updates to the extended furlough scheme

Further guidance has been published today in relation to the extension of the furlough scheme. The Government confirmed in the guidance published on the 10 November 2020 that they would review the position in relation to claims made on or after 1 December 2020 in relation to employees serving notice.

The position has been clarified today and it has been confirmed that for claim periods on or after 1 December 2020, you cannot claim for any days on or after 1 December 2020 during which a furloughed employee has been serving a contractual or statutory notice period. This includes people serving notice of retirement or resignation.

You can continue to claim in November 2020 for a furloughed employee serving a statutory notice period. The guidance is however silent in relation to those serving contractual notice periods during November.
