The guidance from Public Health England in regard to those that are shielding is to be changed from 1st April 2021.
Until now, those that were deemed to be extremely vulnerable, had been advised to shield. This meant that they could not leave the house or meet with anyone.
Those that fall into the category of being “extremely clinically vulnerable” will no longer be advised to shield and will therefore no longer be entitled to SSP or any other benefits. They will, however, still be advised to work from home if they can but if this is not possible, they should go to work.
If they are unable to work from home, they are being reminded to follow the rules of lockdown, hands, face, space.
If you employ someone who has been shielding and want to know what to do to implement the new guidance, please get in touch by emailing us at support@guardianlaw.co.uk.
