Meet our new interns!

We caught up with our marketing interns, Millie and Mojoko to find out a little bit about them as they join us on 16 week placements from NTU.

  1. What made you both choose a career in marketing and business development?

Millie – I have never had any formal industry experience and I have a particular interest in HR, so this way, I am able to get an insight into HR and put the knowledge that I have gained in my studies into practice.

Mojoko – In the future, I would like to have a career in business analysis so naturally, this was a good place for me to start.

  • What are you most looking forward to about the placement?

Millie – Networking events. Nickie has told me about a few things we have lined up and the collaboration with Red Umbrella sounds really interesting. I have never been to a formal networking event so I am looking forward to being involved in that.

Mojoko – Events because like Millie, I have also not experienced formal corporate events. I am also looking forward to putting what I have learnt into practice and being able to add real life experience to my CV is an added bonus.

  • What attracted you to Guardian?

Millie –  I have a keen interest in HR and I was drawn to Guardian because they have both a law firm and an outsourced HR department which work closely under the same roof. I didn’t realise that they could be interlinked because at University, they are taught as 2 completely different topics so I wanted to find out more.

Mojoko – Having researched the business, Guardian comes across as a good place to work and a good place to learn, It also comes across from the website that all of the employees have a good relationship with each other and also with the Founder, which I think is particularly important.

  • Have you enjoyed your first few days at Guardian?

Millie –  I am really enjoying it as all of the team are really friendly and approachable.

Mojoko – I too am enjoying my time here as the team is not hierarchical like a lot of businesses are; everyone speaks to everyone about their work and it is a nice working environment to be in.

  • What do you hope to achieve whilst at Guardian?

Millie – I would like to have the ability to give real life examples of working in industry.

Mojoko – I would like to have a better understanding and knowledge of the real professional working world.

  • What would your advice be to students considering an internship?

Milllie and Mojoko – Do it! It will help you to decide what you want to do in the future and also what type of employer you would want to work for; i.e. big firm, small firm etc.

  • What do you both like to do in your spare time?

Millie – I like to travel to different countries and go on city breaks. I think I have cracked travelling on a budget! I am looking forward to going to Budapest and Portugal soon.

Mojoko – I enjoy reading
