BREAKING NEWS: Extension of the furlough scheme confirmed

The Chancellor Rishi Sunak has announced today that the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme is to be extended for a period of 4 months, until the end of October 2020.

He has confirmed that there will be no changes to the current scheme until the end of July, but that from August, the scheme will allow furloughed employees to be brought back to work on a part-time basis.

Full details of how this will work are expected to be published by the end of May.

This announcement will no doubt be welcomed by employers struggling to get people back to work following recent announcements and concerns regarding the lack of flexibility with the current scheme.
